# Brick Slip Corners& Specialist DetailingDone Properly
Corners, arches, reveals and returns are what separate a real-looking brick wall from an obvious imitation. This is the detailing work most general trades avoid.

The Service

## The Details Nobody Notices Until They Are Wrong
Nobody looks at the middle of a brick slip wall and wonders whether it is real. They look at the corner. A proper corner slip wraps the return with a full header and stretcher face, so the wall reads as solid brick from every angle.

The same applies to arches, window reveals, soffits and the junction where brickwork meets a door frame or worktop. These are the points where a general trade improvises and where the illusion breaks.

We take on detailing work as part of a wider installation, and as a standalone job where somebody else has fitted the field of the wall and stopped at the difficult parts.

### Who it is for
Homeowners with an arch, chimney breast or reveal that needs detailing correctly.
- Builders who have fitted the flat areas and want a specialist for the corners.
- Anyone whose existing brick slip wall has visible cut edges at the corners.
- Projects with curved openings, recesses or herringbone panels.

### When it is needed

- Whenever a brick slip wall turns a corner or wraps a reveal.
- On arches and curved openings, which cannot be set out by eye.
- When an existing installation has exposed cut edges that need correcting.

Why It Matters

## Why Cut Edges Ruin An Otherwise Good Wall
A brick slip is thin. Cut it and butt it against another slip at a corner and you leave a visible seam that announces the wall is a cladding, not brickwork. No amount of pointing hides it.

Corner slips solve this because they are manufactured as a single L-shaped piece, giving a continuous face around the return. They cost more and they need setting out in advance, which is exactly why they get left off cheap quotes.

Arches and reveals fail for a related reason: the setting out has to be worked backwards from the opening so the courses land correctly, and that is planning, not bricklaying speed.

### Common mistakes we are called in to fix

- Butting two cut slips together at a corner instead of using corner slips.
- Ordering corner slips as an afterthought, from a different batch.
- Setting out an arch by eye rather than working the courses back from the opening.
- Leaving raw cut edges visible at window reveals and door openings.
- Running the bond into a corner without planning where the cuts will land.

Our Process

## Five Steps From First LookTo Guaranteed Finish

- 01
### Step 1 — Inspection
We look at the actual wall, not a description of it. Substrate type, flatness, moisture, existing finishes, sockets, skirtings, window reveals and the way daylight hits the surface all change what the finished wall will look like. Send photographs and rough measurements, or ask for samples, and we will tell you straight away whether the wall is suitable as it stands.

- 02
### Step 2 — Brick Selection & Free Quote
You choose the brick from the full range with samples in your hand, in daylight, against your own colour samples. We then set out the quantity required including wastage and corner slips, and issue a free, no-obligation quote covering supply and fit, or supply only if you would rather fit it yourself.

- 03
### Step 3 — Preparation & Protection
Surfaces, floors and furniture are protected before the first slip goes anywhere near the wall. The substrate is prepared so the adhesive bonds to something sound, and the setting-out is marked before fixing begins — bond pattern, joint width, start course and corner returns are all decided in advance rather than improvised halfway up the wall.

- 04
### Step 4 — Installation
Corners are formed with manufactured corner slips from the same batch as the field slips. Arches, reveals and returns are set out first so courses land correctly at the opening, and cuts are planned into the least visible position rather than wherever they fall.

- 05
### Step 5 — Pointing, Verification & Guarantee
Joints are pointed to match the surrounding wall and cleaned down, with particular attention to the corner returns and reveal edges. Detailing we carry out is covered by our 25-year workmanship guarantee.

What You Get

## The Difference A SpecialistMakes To The Finish

### Corners That Read As Solid Brick
Manufactured corner slips give a continuous brick face around every return.

### Arches Set Out Correctly
Courses are worked back from the opening so the arch lands as it should.

### Clean Reveals And Soffits
No raw cut edges at windows, doors or recesses.

### Matched Batches
Corner slips ordered with the field slips, so tone and texture match.

### Remedial Work Considered
Existing installations with visible cut corners can often be corrected without stripping the whole wall.

### 25-Year Workmanship Guarantee
Detailing work we carry out is guaranteed alongside the rest of the installation.

In Detail

## Detailing We Take On
Detailing is priced with the wider job or as a standalone visit, depending on what is already on the wall.

### External And Internal Corners
Manufactured corner slips at every return so the brick face is continuous.

### Arches And Curved Openings
Set out from the opening so courses and joints land correctly around the curve.

### Window And Door Reveals
Reveals wrapped cleanly so no cut edge is visible from inside or outside.

### Soffits And Recesses
Alcoves, media recesses and soffits detailed so the brick continues logically.

### Herringbone And Feature Panels
Feature panels set out to a proper centre line rather than started from one edge.

### Remedial Corrections
Correcting exposed cut corners and poor reveals left by a previous installation, where the existing wall allows it.

We supply and fit across Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington, Hartlepool, Durham, York, Harrogate, Newcastle and Sunderland, based at Thompson Yard, Middlesbrough, TS3 8RQ. See the full brick slip range, browse recent work or check the areas we cover.
